Generation Fate is committed to providing youth in foster care with relevant and effective programs. Our programs rely on leveraging the rich resources within our community in order to create a sustainable system of support and services. Building the assets of our children in foster care will insure the long term healthy development of individuals and of communities.
Project Fortitude [Previously Project Golden Child]
The Fortitude Project’s primary focus is to promote and grow the mental wellbeing of California’s foster children. Generation Fate is working in association with Sacramento area therapists and foster family agencies to:
1. Provide free, regularly scheduled counseling sessions to foster children who:
Have experienced a recent intervention; resulting in the removal from their home.
Have been recently relocated to a group home.
Have been placed with foster parents.
2. Provide free counseling and mentoring to:
Current foster parents.
Potential foster parents.
3. Provide free counseling to the biological families of foster children to improve the reunification process
4. Promote the mental and physical well being of the community.
To help stabilize the continually shifting environments and constant uncertainties presented to foster children, Generation Fate is dedicated to dealing solely with local qualified therapist committed to working for a minimum of 12 months with each individual child. Generation Fate feels the commitment of an individual therapist to each child will provide the stable mentoring relationship currently absent from many foster children’s lives.
Over the next 12 months, Generation Fate will also develop a blueprint model capable of replication throughout California. The primary focus of this model will be the development of adaptable therapy and mentorship programs.
